Notes: This dance was written "by request", when Jennifer Bohrmann approached me after a dance at the Wescustogo Grange in North Yarmouth with a suggestion. She wanted a dance where you: went forward and back and then.. *changed places with your opposite by walking straight forward until you were "nose to nose" with your opposite (Partner in this case), then turning together (no hands) counterclockwise half way and backing out on the other side. The move is a little like a Gypsy but done squared away with your partner and pretty much standing straight up (mainly out of necessity in order to have room to "get by" your neighbors as you cross the set!) As I worked on the dance I started to see a pattern where ALL the moves went straight across the set and wanted to put a half promenade at the end because a Promenade can be done the same way. It's called a "Minnesota Style Promenade", where you promenade straight into your opposite couple then turn "as a foursome" half way counterclockwise and back out on the other side (I learned this move from Rick Mohr). This dance also has a Men's Chain in it. This is a MIRROR IMAGE of a Ladies' Chain. Men take LEFT hands, pull by and give RIGHT hand to opposite (Neighbor) for the courtesy turn. After the courtesy turn, couples are faced back in (M on L, W on R) with Right hands joined in front. At this point it is easy to bring the right hands up over the women's head for a "square dance" style promenade hold (right hands on Women's right shoulder).
First called at Scrod Pudding's Bowdoinham dance on Feb 15, 2003. It was 20 below that night, but HOT inside!
