In addition to CALLING for contradances and family dances, I presently play in 3 bands:
Ti' Acadie (pronounced "TEE Ah-ka-DEE")
A typical Ti' Acadie "happy moment"!
Ti' Acadie is French for "a little Acadia". Band members are: Pam Weeks on fiddle, mountain dulcimer, mandolin, piano, guitar, Celtic harp, singing; Jim Joseph on button accordion, 5 string banjo, mandolin, jaw harp, feet, percussion, singing; Bill Olson on guitar, bass, singing, calling. We play Quebecoise, old timey, and New England dance tunes for contradances, school events, parties, weddings; Cajun dance tunes and songs for Cajun dancing and all the previously mentioned gigs; and we sing the songs we like (mostly old time Southern but not all) in 3 part harmony in addition to the above for concerts. As the band name implies we do a lot of North American French music and like being a link between Northern Acadian music and Southern Cajun music as often as we can! Ti' Acadie was formed as a compact touring band. Since our caller is part of the band and plays and calls at the same time, we are ideal for festivals and dance camps/weekends. We have played all around New England, playing NEFFA, the Cambridge VFW dance, Montpelier, VT, New Haven, CT, the Downeast Country Dance Festival, and have toured on the East and West Coasts. We are versatile, too - equally as comfortable playing for regular contradances, community or family dances, school music or dance workshops or concerts, Cajun dances, or concerts and coffeehouses!
Jimmyjo and the Jumbol'ayuhs is the Cajun band I play guitar in. We are Maine's premier and only Cajun dance band. Band members are Jim Joseph on accordion; Pam Weeks on fiddle; Bill Olson on guitar; Elna Joseph on electric bass; Kit Garavoy on drums.
Scrod Pudding is Pam Weeks, Jim Joseph, Greg Anderson, Eric Johnson
and Bill Olson. We have played for the 3rd Saturday contradance at Bowdoinham,
Maine, town hall for over 10 years. We also play other dances and festivals
throughout New England and the East, as well as for weddings and other
festive occasions.
